Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders recently announced the funding for Billy Dunn Oval as part of the Stronger Country Communities Program.
He said Mid-Western Regional Council had been successful with an application for $122,052 to complete the construction of an amenities building at the oval, which will include male and female change rooms. Currently there are no female change room facilities at the Gulgong complex, something Mr Saunders said needs to change to recognise the importance of women's sport.
Having these facilities available will enable young girls and women to get involved in sport, and they can aspire to reach the heights of their idols.

"We've seen in recent times that a number of codes have included womens competitions and it has added a new dimension to sport in our regional towns and cities," Mr Saunders said.
"In Australia we have the best women's cricket side, the best womens rugby league side, the best women's Rugby Sevens side, and our national women's soccer side is also among the best in the world.
"Having these facilities available will enable young girls and women to get involved in sport, and they can aspire to reach the heights of their idols."

Mid-Western Regional Council mayor Cr Des Kennedy said the project, which when complete is expected to cost a total of $260,000, will be a game changer for sport in the town.
"It's fantastic to get funding and council will be tipping in the remainder of the funds to make it a reality," he said.
"This will be a great facility for the girls, and as we know girls are playing more and more outdoor activity sports. They really need to be treated as they should be with upgraded facilities."
