In the wake of the announcement that rugby union is set to return in July after the delay of the 2020 season thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, comes as a relief for Mudgee Wombats' first grade captain, Tom Dunstan.

Before the announcement that all union activities would be suspended following public health concerns in March, Dunstan's clan were looking forward to getting a chance to do better, making it to the New Holland Agriculture Cup grand final.
Initially, the Mudgee Wombats were meant to begin their season on April 18, but the coronavirus pandemic led to Rugby Australia suspending all community rugby until at least June 1.
However, on April 24 the news came that NSW Rugby Union decided that July would be the target for return.
Dunstan said the news was welcomed after weeks of being in a state of uncertainty as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to grow.
"Yeah that [announcement] was great news, I know a lot of the boys were upset when the season was postponed so I'm sure everyone will be happy to at least get a couple of games in this season," he said.
"It will definitely be interesting to see how players have been keeping fit in isolation, though."
Central West Rugby Union posted on its Facebook page that it "will continue to liaise directly with our clubs to ensure a positive result for our clubs and the game."
