Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said that the grant, from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund, will go towards a range of events.
"It's expected that over the two years there will be more than 13,000 total participants in the activities that are rolled out," Mr Saunders said.
"One of the key focus areas of this round of the Stronger Country Communities Fund was youth, and having that kind of participation in the 12-25 age group over the two-year time-frame will be sensational.
"The money will also allow Mid-Western Regional Council to employ a full-time dedicated youth officer who will oversee youth forums, Youth Week activities, school holiday activities, youth employment expos and a range of other events.
"Right now we're in a particularly difficult time, but I'm sure young people around the Mudgee region will be looking forward to taking part in some of the exciting opportunities we have in the next couple of years thanks to this sort of funding support."
Mid-Western Regional Council mayor Des Kennedy welcomed the grant funding that will support youth in the region with work readiness and connectivity.
"Youth activities and engagement remain high on the agenda for our community and Council remains committed to providing for our region's youth," Cr Kennedy said.
"This funding will allow Council to deliver 216 activities over the next two years via our Youth Officer, increasing engagement with young people and working to prevent social isolation.
"I'd like to thank the NSW Government for allowing Council to deliver this fantastic initiative."
