Donna Perry is a self-described Big W 'original', one of just two staff members that have been at the Mudgee store from day one.
"It was pretty exciting, it was exciting for the whole town after Kellets," Donna said.
She said the biggest change she's seen in the last decade and a half is the transition to digital payments and online shopping. Something the Mudgee store is seeing now more than ever with COVID.
"It has been really busy, we've got the online component and people can come into the store and pick up their online order too. Oh and another change we've had is that we don't have to wear uniforms anymore."
Fears that the Mudgee store would close were unfounded as the retail chain's parent company Woolworths Group made the announcement in April 2019 that it would close up to 30 underperforming stores. Mudgee's was not among those.
