Indyreads partnership with State Library
The library is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the State Library of NSW that gives our members free access to thousands of new Australian and international titles. Indyreads is an exciting new eBook/eAudio platform with an emphasis on; Australian content; material from small to medium independent publishers; titles in languages other than English; classics; modern award winners; science books published by the CSIRO; digitised material from public library local studies collections and local historical societies; and curated selections of the best examples of self-published titles. To sign-in, search for Mid-Western Regional Council Library and enter your library barcode number and password (day/month of birth, e.g. 1203 for 12 March). National Simultaneous Storytime
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is back for its 20th year. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously around the country. Join us for a virtual event on Story Box Library on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11am and watch Emma Watkins from The Wiggles read this year's NSS book, 'Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas', with a guest appearance from creator Lucinda Gifford and real-life chickenettes. Smart Research for HSC Students
For anyone doing their HSC, the State Library of NSW will be running a series of free online workshops via Zoom called Smart Research for HSC Students. Topics covered include; Finding the right sources online, May 21 (4.30-5pm); Getting better results from your searches, May 28 (4.30-5pm); Better searching with online resources, June 4 (4.30-5pm); Citing your work and avoiding plagiarism, June 11 (4.30-5pm); Essential library resources for your research and study, June 18 (4.30-5pm). Still go ahead and register even if you are unable to attend a live session as a recorded version will be made available afterwards.
