THE Castlereagh Highway is closed in both directions between Round Swamp and Illford following a semi-trailer crash that's left a load of steel and oil across the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.44am on Thursday following report of the crash.
NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) firefighters are among the crews are at the crash site and they say it will take "some hours to clear the scene".
"It is recommended that if possible you delay travelling in the area and take another route if you are required to travel," Cudgegong District RFS crews say.
At this stage it is unknown if the truck driver was injured.
There are no suitable diversions for B-doubles, which must park up, or take the very long diversion via Mitchell Highway to Orange and Wellington, then Goolma Road to Gulgong for northbound. Southbound should exit the Castlereagh Hwy at Gulgong and take the same route in reverse.

Diversion for light vehicles travelling northbound is via the Great Western Highway through to Kelso, then take Gilmour Road and the Ilford-Sofala Road to rejoin the Castlereagh Highway at Ilford.
Southbound light vehicles should travel on the Ilford-Sofala Road through to Kelso, then Great Western Highway.
