Like the majority of other sports, the last two months have been drizzled with uncertainty and while there is a possibility things could once again revert back, MDHA will be back in a few short weeks.
"As long as there are no new restrictions placed on community sport, we are planning on a season opener on the 18th of July," Mudgee Hockey president, Ryan Hislop said.
"Getting this season off the ground is unlike any other. There is a lot going on in the background to ensure we keep our members and spectators safe and we comply with the government directives.
"So, it's been a very busy time but it will be good once we get things up and running."
Once everything is finalised, it is likely the season will mirror their 7-a-side competition that is held at the start of the year.
"I actually look at this as a silver lining for Mudgee Hockey. We had several new players come to try hockey out, and I think all would agree, the spirit and fun of the game was at an all time high," Hislop said.
It really allows new, returning and experienced players to all enjoy the game and the mateship that comes with hockey.

"We have formulated a covid safety plan in conjunction with Hockey NSW and Mid-Western Regional Council. These are in line with the federal health advice and the directives given to community sport."
A poll posted on MDHA's Facebook page revealed that, of those who voted, 93 per cent are eager to play, justifying that the efforts made by all to get the season up and running to be worth it.
"It's great to see the hockey community keen to get a few games in before the season ends," Hislop said.
"One of the fantastic things about hockey players is their love for the game, regardless of what that looks like, they just want to get on the field and have a run with their mates.
"I'd expect that this year the game will be played as much more of a friendly competition that will be relaxed, inviting for new players and easy going.
"With no premiership to be chased after I'm hoping the game will be enjoyed for what it is, an enjoyable and exciting sport."
