The former grandstand, which was built in 1936, was demolished in January.
It's replacement will have 150 seats, occupy the same location - next to main arena and approximately 80 metres from the Douro Street boundary - and be of similar size at 11.3 metres wide, 18 metres long, 7.2 metres high, with a 60 metre-sqaured storage room at the rear.
Unlike the now-demolished facility, the new grandstand will have both a stairway and a ramp, along with four specialised seats for those with a disability. The old structure had bench seats.

In order to maintain consistency with the Showground's other buildings, the same colour scheme of grey Colorbond and heritage red is proposed. And it's expected to be comparable to site's other structures in terms of bulk and scale, and smaller than the adjacent main pavilion.
The 84-year-old previous grandstand hadn't been used for around half a decade prior to its removal, due to its structural inadequacy, poor condition and being out of line with the current Australian safety standards.
Council voted to demolish it at their February 2018 meeting, with a Development Application for the structure's removal - received in November 2017 - providing indicative costings of $776,160 to bring it into compliance.
A budget of $450,000 for the project to construct a new grandstand was provided in Council's updated Operational Plan and Delivery Program.
