The cold snap will come overnight on Wednesday with the chance of snow in the early hours of Thursday in Orange, Jenolan Caves and high areas between Bathurst and Lithgow.
The mercury will reach just nine degrees in Bathurst on Thursday, with eight degrees in Lithgow and six degrees in Orange.
But the real white out is predicted after that.
Snow is predicted to continue into Friday morning with heavier falls on the way from 1pm, the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website shows.
This snow should remain in areas around Orange, Lithgow, Jenolan Caves, the Blue Mountains and high areas around Bathurst until the early hours of Sunday.

Forecasts also indicate snowfall right through to Crookwell, Goulburn and south towards Canberra.
Motorists keen to get out and see the snow are urged to exercise caution during the alpine weather and drive to the conditions.

- Bathurst: Friday 10 degrees; Saturday 7 degrees; Sunday 9 degrees
- Lithgow: Friday 9 degrees; Saturday 5 degrees; Sunday 8 degrees
- Mudgee: Friday 13 degrees; Saturday 9 degrees; 11 degrees
- Orange: Friday 7 degrees; Saturday 3 degrees; Sunday 5 degrees
