The match of the day in the final round of premiership games saw both of the previously-unbeaten sides fighting out for the honour of undefeated minor premier, and the Oberon side came out on top by just 10 points, delegating Cargo to second spot on the ladder.
In the other important game, to decide fourth position in the semi-finals, the two Orange sides battled it out in an absorbing contest, with a 32-26 win by last year's grand finalist Barbarians over the Orange United Warriors.
Kandos defeated Lithgow Bears at the Tony Luchetti ground 32-4, the win allowing the retention of the Nathan Boundy Shield.
It took only three minutes for Kandos to score when Kevin Large was put through a gap by Drew Cini close to 50 metres out and a four-point lead, and within another three minutes Cini scored one for himself to extend the score to 10-nil with Daniel Steel's conversion.
Scoring slowed as the Bears composed themselves, but then Steel scored to push the score to 14-nil, and extended to 20-nil with Ethan Parsons' try.
Cini was the playmaker for the Waratahs but scored his second try due to Glenn Osgood's deft pass to set him up but still had work to do to burrow across in the corner.
Kandos dominated in all aspects of the game but the Bears eventually found a chink in the defence for Nick Miller to get across for Lithgow's only points, but with Parsons' second try, set up by Cini, the Waratahs were 32-4 winners.
Oberon finished on top of the points table on 12, followed by Cargo on 10, with CSU and Orange Barbarians equal in fourth position on eight points each.
League tag results, with wins to Cargo, Kandos and Barbarians, left CSU unbeaten on top of the ladder on 12, followed by Cargo in second spot on 10, then Barbarians on 8 and, with Kandos and Oberon on seven points a countback will be necessary to decide which league tag club advances into last place in the semis.
