According to Operations Manager Macquarie, Jamie Warren, the works will see the commissioning of an auto changeover system, which will provide for quicker restoration times for customers during unplanned power outages, if safe to do so.
"Currently, in the event of a major unplanned power outage on the main power supply line, power supply needs to be switched manually to restore power. This new system will see that happen automatically," Warren said.
To enable the work to be completed safely, a planned power outage affecting more than 9,100 residents in Mudgee, Bombira, Gulgong, Grattai, Hargraves, Lue, Windeyer and surrounding areas, will take place on Monday, November 23, 2020, between 12.15am and 3.00am.
Affected homes and businesses have been notified of the planned outage.
The scheduled works are reliant on suitable weather conditions and may be postponed if the conditions are unfavourable or any unforeseen circumstances arise.
"We appreciate that planned power outages may cause inconvenience for some customers, but they are necessary at times to allow maintenance and upgrades to the electricity network to be completed," Warren said.
