Originally a post-Thanksgiving tradition in the US, Black Friday along with Cyber Monday have become major online and in-store retail events in Australia.
Black Friday started off as the US equivalent of Boxing Day sales, and with online international trade, rapidly expanded around the globe.
In the past two years, Black Friday sales have enjoyed significant growth to the point some retailers predict it will eventually eclipse Boxing Dale figures.
Shawn Murphy, from Harvey Norman Bathurst in NSW's Central Tablelands said they are expecting Friday to be huge.
So much so, the store is trading for 12-hours, from 9am until 9pm.
He said people can expect to bag a bargain, especially if they are looking for small appliances or white goods.

"This is definitely the time to buy, people won't see prices like again until post Christmas.
"It's going to be pretty massive."
Mr Murphy said as well as trading for 12 hours on Friday, the sale will continue over the weekend.
"We will kick off Friday, but because we're expecting it to be big, it will go over the weekend."
He said the sales will be both online and in-store.
Manager of Regency Jewellers, Elizabeth Packham, said they were expecting the store's Black Friday sale, which runs from November 27 to 30, to be popular.
"Last year Black Friday was really big, so we're expecting it to be quite busy."
She said given the sale's proximity to Christmas, many people literally do all their Christmas shopping in the one day.
She said there would be significant discounts across the store and said it was an ideal time for people take advantage of prices that won't be seen again for some time.
Karla McDiarmid from Macquarie Medi Spa said she is excited for this year's Black Friday sale which she is running online and in-spa.
She said the biggest savings will be found in-spa with a selection of items 50 per cent off as well as a $10- basket of specials.
"This year we will also carry our sale into Saturdays, into the spas and online. Over the entire weekend our online store will continue to have sales.
"It's a great time to Christmas shop and spoil yourself all at the same time as saving lots of money.
Karla said this year she doesn't expect to be as busy as last year, but only because they are already fully booked.
"We haven't stopped since Covid lockdown which is a good problem for us but it means we can only do retail sales," she said.
