In the final leg of November, 11 Mudgee riders were awarded with trophies at recent Dubbo and Bathurst meets, respectively.
For Jake Doyle, who was declared Motocross Rider of 2020 with first in the 7-10 years 65cc and first 9-12 years 85cc at the Panorama meet, and tied Junior Club Champion with Tom O'Dwyer (Mudgee) and Jack Deveson (Dubbo) at Dubbo, he said riding is something he's done since the age of four and has loved ever since.
"It feels really good to have those trophies. I've trained hard this year and it's paid off. Tom is a great rider and happy to share with him and Jack from Dubbo," Jake said.
As for Tom O'Dwyer, who was tied Junior Club Championship with Doyle and Deverson, and Junior Rider 2020 for first in the 12-14 years 85cc and third in the Junior Lites A Grade, getting a championship is a buzz and attributes his success largely to training and natural talent.
"It's always a buzz to win a championship. Jake and I train together and go to most of the same race meets, so we sort of knew where each other were sitting in the points. We actually both won Bathurst and Dubbo so that was a surprise," he said.
"I've always had a bit of a natural talent, but training daily both on the track and in the gym is a must. I love racing, it's in my blood. The speed and the challenge of the tracks makes me push to the limit."
Tabitha Newcomb did the girls proud with her mighty performance at Dubbo which crowned her the Junior Girls Champion.
"It feels great to win a championship. I hope I can be an inspiration to other girls interested in the sport. It's taken a long time and often been a bit frustrating, but it's good to know I am progressing as you never stop learning in this sport," she said.
For Nippers, Spencer Doyle, Levi Statham and Logan Stephens, it's all about the racing, there's nothing they don't love about it; "It feels good and exciting".
Jeremy Waters was crowned Seniors Most Consistent at Dubbo and said "it feels great to get that award this year, that was my plan when I turned senior."
"The season went well, I rode at a lot of different clubs. I did the East Coast MX Series and the King of MX qualifiers. I love racing and travelling around the state, so I can't see myself stopping anytime soon."
Joel Statham placed second in the Seniors Lites B Grade and he's "pretty happy with the result".
In her first year of racing, Taylor Statham placed second in the 10-12 years 65cc at Bathurst and said while she does get nervous before a racing, it's important to "just try and breathe through the nerves, it's all just a bit of fun".
Levi Box who took the crown in the Junior Lites B Grade at Bathurst said "it felt good" to get the result considering it is his first time winning a club championship.
"I love the freedom of riding, being competitive and racing against my friends and other competitors. I would love to continue racing especially since I have only been doing it competitively for three years," he said.
