Chamber President, Ali Broinowski said the event was aimed at capping 2020 off with something positive, amid the negativity the rest of the year brought.

"One of the first meetings we had as a new committee, we decided we needed to do something with a positive spin. The Clock Awards hadn't gone ahead as planned, so we thought let's do something a bit more low-key something along the lines of what Dubbo had done, a business showcase for everything that everyone had done in what was a pretty rough year," she said.

"It was a really nice evening, Augustine is a beautiful venue and luckily, the restrictions eased earlier in the week... I just think everyone really appreciated being able to chat, network and connect with people and see them once more."

The event filled the vacuum left by the Clock Awards, though Ali said the Magnificent Mudgee Awards have the potential to live on in future years, taking the place of the biennial event's off years.

The event was put together in a relatively truncated timeline with Mudgee's Hi Tech working to create a website and online voting form.

"People really liked the event and the Christmassy atmosphere. It was about having fun and showcasing the way the new Chamber is moving forward. We're doing things a little differently, with more collaborating and more recognition and being more authentic and relevant for local businesses," Ali said.
