Split into two assemblies - Years 7 and 8, followed by Years 9, 10, and 11 - and boiled down to the special awards, the evening recognised the academic, cultural and sporting endevours, and the exemplary citizenship of the school's young people.

Dux of MHS 2019, Ethan Reinhard, delivered his address by video with the message, "never lose sight of your passions".

"I consider one of the most important things is to have a passion - whether it's common or niche, public or private. Having some sort of passion to follow when times get tough is essential," he said.

And that, "for me, learning became a passion, as nerdy as it sounds I enjoyed coming to schools most days - and even after a full year of uni I still do. To have reached this point with help from teachers, parents and friends along the way, and to be proud of myself in the work I've put into this passion of learning is amazing".

In his Principal's Address, Wayne Eade said those lauded that night have demonstrated what the school expects of them, striving to do their personal bests.

"Presentation Evenings can be counted on to supply us with one enduring thing, that is a steady stream of students who have been achieving personal bests in their classes, sporting endevours, and in the wider school community. And we're here to celebrate just some of the things achieved by our students at Mudgee High this year," he said.

"Foremost we have a focus on expectations, we don't just want you to do your personal best we expect you to do your personal best. We want the students in our care to be able to develop the skills that allow them to rise to and meet life's demands in a world more dynamic and prone to change."
