A 25-year-old man has been arrested after two children were killed and a further three pedestrians injured, after being struck by a vehicle in Warne Street, Wellington at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Police have been told a 34-year-old woman and four young boys aged six, seven, nine and 10, were walking along the grass on the side of the road when they were struck.
They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, the two boys aged six and seven died a short time later.
The woman was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The 10-year-old boy sustained serious leg injuries and was airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead and is undergoing surgery. The nine-year-old boy sustained minor injuries and was taken to Orange Base Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene prior to police arrival.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested near Elizabeth Street, Wellington just after 8.40pm last night following a short foot pursuit.
The man was taken to Dubbo Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing before being taken to Dubbo Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
Investigations continue.
NSW Ambulance Zone Manager Superintendent Andrew Degabriel said these types of incidents are "shocking for all emergency services and witnesses involved."
"We are confronted with an absolutely devastating scene in Wellington.
"It's heartbreaking for this to happen to such a small community."
