Jones exhibits wealth of skill to outdo 30 vets' to claim the crown

What a great field ventured onto the course to contest the Medley Stableford when 31 vets and 5 non-vets 'strutted their stuff'.
Shane Martin (40 cb) was the overall winner (non-vet) but the vets' winner went to Trish Jones (40 cb) who claimed the main prize ahead of Ian Morgan (40).
One of the most competitive golfers in our veterans' group, Trish, has begun to return to the form that has had her a very successful performer for many years.
Trish showed all her experience when she started with some consistent scoring before having a slight 'hiccup' on the 9th hole, powering home on the back nine holes with a very nice 21 points.
That was enough to edge ahead of Ian who had the 'world at his feet' with four holes to play. Ian had amassed an (almost) unbelievable 35 points after 14 holes and appeared to be heading for the round of his life.
Unfortunately, he tangled with the trees on the 15th and 16th hole before the dreaded 17th hole (The Donga) grabbed him and threatened to destroy him. To his great credit, he refocused and scored a fine 3 pointer on the last hole to finish a great round.
MGC ball winners were Shane (non-vet), Trish, Ian, Neil, Michael, Kel, John, Keith, Ray, Mark (non-vet), Bob, Merrie, Cec and Rod.
