Despite no correspondence at the present time regarding the layout of the season, Mudgee Junior Rugby League secretary James Hughes says he's confident things will look somewhat normal after an abnormal season in 2020.
"At the moment, we haven't heard from our Group 10 body on how the season is going to look but indications are that it should be a relatively normal-looking season," he said.
"For the most part, things should be back to normal where we have a regular season with a 12 week competition as well as four weeks of finals.
"It is looking positive, we will follow our COVID-safe plans, and that will mean kids can get back out on the footy field and that's what we're all about."
With registrations looking to be encouraging, Hughes admits the Dragons have created an incentive for those who get in early.
"If you put your child's name down before March 5, the child will get a free hoodie. It's definitely a bit of an incentive to get in early and not hold off," he said.
"It's just a bonus for the players, it's also to reward their loyal support."
While rugby league traditionally can be a concerning sport for parents, Hughes reveals the methods behind keeping all players safe on the field.
"The programs that Mudgee Junior Rugby League have are modified to allow for development. For example, a child who might be five or six is being taught different things compared to what a 15 or 16 year old is," he said.
"The game is changed based on how old the child is, it's more about fun and less about competition for the younger ones."
The start of the 2021 season will kick-off on May 1 with all updates to be found on the club's social media page.
"Keep on watching our Facebook page because you'll find everything you need to know there," Hughes said.
