Police have established a crime scene after a building was completely destroyed in a fire at Mudgee on Monday evening, with crews from Gulgong and Bathurst also called in to assist in extinguishing the massive inferno.

The brick and iron building on Inglis Street was believed to be unused, with Fire and Rescue NSW crews initially responding to reports of the fire at 9.33pm on Monday, discovering the structure to be well alight upon arrival to the scene.

Rural Fire Services officers also assisted as did a crew from Gulgong, while a HAZMAT vehicle made the 130-kilometre trip to Bathurst, with a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson explaining the fire was knocked down by about 10.30pm.

No injuries were reported from the incident, with police now set to continue their investigations.
