However the Cowra girls got on the front foot in the second half, storming home to record a 16-0 victory and get themselves in arm's reach of the top four.
Despite being gifted a number of chances on the Mudgee tryline throughout the first half, the home side was unable to make the most of their opportunities until Jade Lanham crossed the stripe, taking the score to 4-0.
It was all the Magpies after the break, with Emilie Browne, Courtney Gambrill and Taliah Williams posting points to seal the win.
