Mindfulness was brought to Monique Kelly's attention 10 years ago when she found herself dealing with mental health illness.
Having had a desire to work as a counsellor for many years, an everyday scroll on social media led to an opportunity for Ms Kelly to start offering support and guidance to others.
After completing a mindfulness for kids course, Ms Kelly is now a certified instructor and has since established Happy Hearts and Strong Minds.
"Mindfulness is a practice that is used to help people be in the moment, it has become a really important tool for mental health," she said.
"It's practicing observing and teaching us to, when we get anxious or worried, bring it back to the here and now."
Throughout the upcoming eight week program targeted to primary aged students, participants will learn about mindfulness with a multitude of lessons.
Each student attending in the 45 minute sessions will receive and utilise a 30 day mindfulness book, gratitude journal and positive thinking cards.
Students will also be divided into groups, one for five to eight year olds and another for nine to 12 year olds.
"Our thoughts can change so many times in a minute so the program is to teach them strategies for whenever they may feel overwhelmed or in need of calming," Ms Kelly said.
"My children had their own issues and I just wish that someone had shown me how to do this with them.
If we can help the little people become big people who can have coping strategies then that is wonderful.

One of the biggest triggers for mental health unwellness is social media, said Ms Kelly, who described her childhood as a time of forgive and forget; an unheard of concept for children in this day and age.
"If you weren't invited to a party when I grew up, you heard about it on Monday morning but it wasn't a thing. For my daughter when she was growing up, she watched it unfold on social media," Ms Kelly said.
"It's in their faces. It's there on all of their social media accounts, a constant reminder that they missed out.
"Of course, there's always going to be challenges but with mindfulness, they will have strategies to ground themselves and be in the moment."
While the program is only currently being offered to primary school students, Ms Kelly hopes to develop programs for all members of the family.
"I eventually would like to do programs for the whole family or for businesses, it's for everybody," she said.
"I can definitely do programs for adults and if I have interest, I will run a course."
