The next Mudgee race meeting is will to go ahead on Sunday 29 August, with no spectators after a decision was made by Mudgee Race Club to restrict the event.
The Sunday meet comes just one day after the lockdown of regional Australia is set to end, but with uncertainty around any possible extensions and the growing number of COVID cases
Belinda Holden from the Mudgee Race Club has been busy issuing refunds to ticket holders and getting the message out that while the meet is going ahead, the public will not be a part of it.
"There's so basically, it's personnel. It is essential personnel only. That means owners can even go and watch their own horse race." she said.
"So only the people that are involved in the actual horses in the races. Nobody else is allowed."
Belinda wanted to remind punters that the next race meeting will be held on Saturday, October 23. The club is hoping that by then things will have settled down to a point where people can again attend the popular spring time meet.
