Bordering the block, Broadhead Road, Bruce Road and Lions Drive will be the main roads to see work with the work expected to continue for the next four months, possibly into early 2022.
The upgrades are said to include installation of a new water main, resurfacing sections of existing road, creating new school access driveway and bus turning lane, constructing new footpaths, and upgrading drainage.
In a release to the media, Angela Myles, Principal of St Matthew's Catholic School, Mudgee said, "I'm very happy to see the construction of the secondary campus progressing well, despite the challenges that are impacting so many others within NSW."
"The upgrades to the surrounding roads will allow the school community to safely access the new campus, and improve the road network within the vicinity of the campus for the benefit of everyone who currently travels on those roads," she said.
Works will be undertaken from 7am to 6pm Monday to Fridays, and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. Pedestrian and traffic management services will be in place to support the safety of the community and workers while the works are being undertaken. Access for residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
"In the coming months we will see some significant milestones being reached, with the completion of the structural concreting works on site, and the framing and fit-out works of the different segments of the campus continuing to progress. It's very exciting to see it taking shape," Ms Myles said.
The St Matthews Catholic School, Mudgee Secondary Campus is entirely funded by the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst. The school says the project is on track to be completed for the start of the 2023 school year. To date, 75 per cent of the contractors and tradesman working on the project have been employed from the Central Western and Mid-Western areas.
