Due to the ongoing discovery of COVID-19 cases in the Western NSW area, including Mudgee, the region has been placed in lockdown since August 14, with the most recent scheduled to end on September 10.
Before any lockdowns were announced, the Mudgee Sports Council made the decision to review the categories and criteria for all nominations before entries would be called upon.
However, with various competitions abandoned and others left in an uncertain state, the Sports Council will meet again this month to determine whether the awards will proceed.
"To cancel the awards two years in a row would be a considerable blow to the recognition of those athletes and teams that performed so well during 2021," Mudgee Sports Council secretary/treasurer, Geoff Robinson said.
"The Sports Council will consider the decision at length, even postponing the decision if need be, before cancelling the event."
