With 1.2 million children having gone hungry this past year, Woolworths Mudgee endeavor to make a difference.
From November 3, the local Woolworths chain will be launching a Local Community Food Drive to help support Mudgee and Gulgong charities deliver food relief products to people in need.
Mid-Western shoppers are encouraged to participate in the week-long initiative by donating non-perishable food items into the specially marked trolley in-store.
Donated items will be distributed to We Care Community Shop, St Vincent de Paul and Barnardos Mudgee.
Woolworths Mudgee has also committed to donating a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables to the Local Community Food Drive and their local community's food relief charity.
Woolworths Mudgee store manager, Simone Hendry said with hunger an everlasting issue, it's important to support locals who struggle to access food essentials.
"Food insecurity continues to be a real issue in communities across Australia and the past year has made it even more difficult for a growing number of families to access nutritious food and essentials," Ms Hendry said.
"As Today's Fresh Food People, we're committed to supporting local communities and helping those less fortunate, particularly as we head into the festive season.
"I encourage Mudgee and Gulgong customers to join us and make a donation to the Woolworths Local Community Food Drive when they shop with us. By simply adding a non-perishable product in the specially marked trolley, you will be helping someone in need in our local community."
