We are seeking support for the creation of a pump track in Mudgee. A pump track would be a fantastic community asset in the rapidly growing town of Mudgee for our local residents, as well as an additional tourist opportunity. Wheeled sports are growing in popularity over organised sports, as cited by the ABS research into Children's Participation in Sport and Physical Recreation. Such popularity is evident in both male and female participants, making wheeled sports inclusive and essential to the wellbeing of our community members, particularly young people.

To date, there has not been a positive response by council when a pump track has been suggested in the community engagement surveys, so I see this as a chance for existing and new candidates in the upcoming election to indicate their support before the election date on the 5th of December.
Benefits of a pump track include:
- General health and wellbeing
- Skills development, such as balance, coordination, fine and gross motor skills
- Increased cardiovascular fitness
- Promotion and participation in a rapidly growing sport, now featured in the Olympics
- Recreation and active participation in a safe and fun environment
- Can be built in small areas connected to existing sporting precincts or parks
- Attracts visitors to the area, particularly families
Please see the Sutherland Shire Council website for an example of a successful pump track.
Please find statistical references below.
We urge candidates to note their support for this valuable community project.
