Japan shuts, WHO flags Omicron global risk

Many countries have imposed travel bans or curbs on southern Africa to try to stem Omicron's spread.

Japan will join Israel in closing its borders to foreigners in tough measures against the Omicron variant of coronavirus, which the WHO says carries a "very high" global risk of surges.
