Adele Margaret Cafe, a well-known local identity of Bathurst and formerly of 'Waterview' Ilford passed away suddenly at Bathurst Hospital on 4th October, 2021.
Dearly beloved wife of Clive (dec). Loving mother and mother-in-law of Barry (dec) and Shirley, Peter and Margaret, Greg and Lyn, Jeff and Kathy, Suzanne and Greg, Mark and Sharon. Cherished grandmother to all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Adele (Dell) was born at Tallawang, Gulgong in 1926. She was the first daughter of Leonard and Gladys Honeysett and her younger sister, June was born 3 years later. Adele would often share her fond memories of growing up in Kandos, in a time when cars were rare, times were tough and family and friends were everything.
After schooling in Kandos, Adele worked in a retail store and like all young ladies of that time, the Annual Rylstone Debutante Ball held much excitement. It was on one such night that Adele's heart was swept away on the dance floor by a young Ilford farmer - Clive Ernest Cafe.
From then on she eagerly awaited the 'Waterview' produce delivery truck, hoping Clive would be on board. Love blossomed and after building their first home on 'Waterview' in 1947, they became husband and wife.
In 1948, Clive and Adele began their beautiful family with the arrival of Barry followed by Peter, Greg, Jeff, Suzanne and Mark. Being a wife and mother was a career Adele excelled at. Raising a large family on the land was a challenge but she learnt to be resourceful and resilient. They worked hard on the property to provide for their large family and to build a place where generations to come could enjoy such a wonderful lifestyle. A long time dream was fulfilled in 1991 when they built another new home on the Crudine Road at Ilford.
Clive and Adele were tireless members of the Ilford Community and will also be fondly remembered by the people of surrounding districts of Kandos, Rylstone, Mudgee and more recently Bathurst.
Clive's sudden death in 1998, after 51 years of marriage, rocked Adele and her family's world - she lost the love of her life. Although her heart was broken, her fierce love of Clive and the farm they had built together saw her stay on at 'Waterview' for seven years to continue their dreams.
In 2005 she made the decision to sell the family farm and moved to Bathurst - a move that although brought her happiness, created a new grieving for the farm and Clive. It took time to make her new house feel like her home but Adele was kept busy with family outings, celebrations, road trips and holidays interstate.
She endured more heartbreak when her first-born, Barry passed away suddenly in 2017 (aged 68) - a loss that never left her. With the love and support of her family and the wonderful homecare assistance she was able to continue living in her own home. She cherished the visits from all her extended family and friends.
She will always be remembered for her nurturing nature, kind-heartedness and for her fabulous home-cooking but more so for being a genuine loving and caring person who valued each and every one she met. She will be forever missed.
The family of Adele are extremely thankful for all the sympathy messages and condolences from far and wide to help them through this sad time. Also, the care, support and friendship in recent years from the staff of homecare (Australian Unity - Bathurst Branch) is sincerely appreciated.
Not only was Adele the most wonderful mother but a beautiful human being.
