On Monday, Mudgee Public School (MPS) student Piper Etherington shaved her hair to raise much needed funds for Variety - a Children's Charity looking after sick kids and kids in need.

"I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition," Piper wrote on her donation page.
"OH MY GOSH! It still hasn't really hit me! Shout out to Cathy Furney for shaving my hair, thank you very much it looks beautiful! I also want to thank all my friends and family who helped and supported me along the way and even got to cut off a plait!
"Of course, I want to thank all of you for supporting and helping me along the way as well, we wouldn't be here without all of you splendiferous people! It's not quite over yet, we are leaving the page up for one more week just in case of any last minute donations.
"So I would like to say thank you one more time because everyone out there reading this really truly deserves it."

The Mudgee Public School community also contributed $730 towards Piper's total.
Her dad, Scott Etherington said he couldn't be more proud of her.
