The Australian recall covers a single Ram 3500, which was built in 2014 according to a global Ram vehicle identification number (VIN) checker.
"Due to a software issue, the engine control software requires updating for efficient engine emission performance," Ram said in its recall notice.
"There is no safety hazard and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle. Vehicles may not be compliant with the ADR 80/03 – Emission Control for Heavy Vehicles."
It's unclear if this is related to Ram's global recall of 630,000 pickups found to have been equipped with emissions defeat devices.
