Mudgee Airport weather station received 22.6mm of rain between 3am and the end of the 24-hour period for recording at 9am. The Gulgong Post Office station had 22mm, while Nullo Mountain in the Rylstone/Kandos area saw a whopping 36mm, however the precipitation had started in early Tuesday evening at the latter location.
According to Weatherzone a deepening low pressure system is responsible for this morning’s storms and will cause more heavy rain and thunderstorms across a broad area of central NSW during Wednesday, with numerous weather warnings and alerts in place across the state.
November-so-far is a different story at the region’s three weather stations. Gulgong’s 51.4mm is close to the monthly average of 59.6mm, but Mudgee’s 46.2mm is well short of the November norm of 78.7mm and it’s a similar story at Nullo Mountain with 79.2mm against an average of 106.3mm.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible for the remainder of Wednesday, forecast to clear by the evening. Ahead of predicted ‘mostly sunny’ weekend with maximum temps to reach up above 30°C with the arrival of December.
