The Gulgong trainer picked up last year's 1200m Cup win with More Than Art storming home to collect victory by just under two lengths from Attalea, a veteran of the Thompson stable.
The six-year-old bay has again been nominated by Thompson for Sunday's non-TAB meeting at the Gulgong Turf Club while Sugar Dance has had his hat thrown in the ring on the back of last week's open handicap win over 1300m at Dubbo.
More Than Art has also been nominated in a bid for back-to-back Gulgong Cups, but the seven-year-old with seven wins in 43 career starts is now with the Bryan Dixon stables at Gilgandra.
The comically named Mr Pumblechook, a contender in the Hunter and North West Country Championship heat at Tamworth, has also been nominated.
Acceptances for the 2019, $10,000 Cup are declared on Thursday.
