Cameron Farmer was convicted and disqualified from driving for three months.
At about 11.40pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019, police stopped him as he drove into Mudgee. After receiving information regarding his activity, they made the decision to search his vehicle and found a glass pipe concealed in a headphone case.
The next day, at about 3.10pm, Farmer was stopped for random breath and drug testing in Denison Street, Mudgee. He tested positive to methamphetamine, which he admitted to smoking earlier.
On the morning of Friday, May 3, at about 9.15am, he was found to be driving with the drug in his system again, after he was tested in Short Street. He told police, "I had some about a week ago, before the last time you got me".
When asked in court where he found money for the drug, Farmer answered "Centrelink". To which, Magistrate David Day replied, "so the Federal Government collects money from taxes, levies, duties, and royalties, so you can use ice?"
