The Mudgee Dragons are ready and raring to kick off the Group 10 2020 competition with preseason training all but a few days out from commencement.
While the off season has been busy for the club citing a potential move to Group 11, Mudgee Dragons club president Sebastian Flack says although the change was knocked back, the option will be revisited in 2022.
"We were disappointed not to be allowed in as we saw it as an opportunity to get more interest for rugby league in the town and for new towns to come to Mudgee," he said.
"There were many pros, but we accept and understand it would have been a difficult change while the transition of CRL to NSWRL is taking place.
It is important to move on from the events because there is nothing we can do that can change anything. We needed to move on and we have.
- Mudgee Dragons club president, Sebastian Flack
"We are ready to concentrate on ourselves and improving in all grades in the Group 10 competition this year."
The Dragons held their annual general meeting on October 30 and while the majority of position holders remain the same, Bridget Condon will be the vice president alongside Jared Robinson, Adam Sutherland will coach the under 18s, and senior league tag will be coached by Haley Joseph, taking on both roles, while the club remain searching for a new treasurer.
Club Mudgee has jumped back on board as the major sponsor, and Flack says the Dragons can't help but value the ongoing support.
"We love the loyalty Club Mudgee have shown us with this year being their eighth year as major sponsor," he said.
"It's a big year with 100 years of football in Mudgee, so it's good to have them on board to celebrate that."
The red and white contingent are eager to see the level of enthusiasm from the supporters for the 2020 season with hopes set high from what was received this year.
"The support we received in 2019 was amazing and I'm sure the supporters are like the players and committee, eager to see the improvement from what was a great year for the club," Flack said.
We appreciate the patience from our players, supporters and sponsors through this time and we hope to see you all out at Glen Willow next season cheering us on.
Preseason training will kick-off on December 11 and will be held again on December 13 before a Christmas break that will bring it back to full swing on January 8.
