According to the NRMA Weekly Petrol Report, the average price of regular unleaded petrol in Mudgee for the week ending March 29, was 131.7c/l. Which was a full 11c/l down on the prior week and 20c/l below what it was in the week ending February 2 - when it tied with Broken Hill as the dearest in the Central West/West.
Mudgee sits fourth in the region for last week, although still over 5c/l litre away from third-placed Lithgow and 8c/l off the lowest average in Bathurst. The cheapest petrol in the state was 110.2c/l in Tweed Heads South.
For diesel, Mudgee's average price was 139.4c/l, which is down by 15c/l on that February peak - when it was the fifth highest in the state - and 6.7c/l below the week ending March 22. This again puts the town fourth in the region, but still with sizable gaps to third (Bathurst 133.2c/l) and first (Orange 129.2), the cheapest diesel in NSW was 127.6c/l in Gunnedah.
Global oil prices are now at the lowest since December 2003, due to weakened demand caused by the expansion of coronavirus cases globally.
