Alex Raymond Foote of Inglis Street, Mudgee, was fined $550 and disqualified for two months to be followed by a 12-month interlock period.
At around 2.50am on Saturday, February 1, 2020, police were patrolling Perry Street, Mudgee, when they noticed a vehicle driving in Byron Place. Upon seeing them, Foote stopped and turned his lights off.
Officers approached and asked the 27-year-old to hand over his licence, to which he replied "I don't have one, I wasn't driving".
They explained that they'd seen him doing, however he refused to produce any form of identification, give any details or submit to a breath test - and claimed he didn't have to.
Foote was arrested and as he was moved to the police vehicle, his licence fell onto the ground and he attempted to cover it with his foot, before it was retrieved by one of the officers.
He was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he recorded a breath analysis of 0.110.
In a separate matter, a disqualified driver who was caught behind the wheel just days before he was eligible to get his licence back, was fined $550.
Michael Edward Curry of Bellevue Road, Mudgee, was also disqualified for six months.
The 30-year-old was stopped for random breath testing in Horatio Street, Mudgee, at around 9.50pm on Monday, December 2, 2019.
When asked if he was suspended or disqualified, he answered "no, it's all good".
However a check showed that in June he'd been disqualified for an earlier charge of unlicensed in November 2018.
The six-month period was set to end on December 5.
