Community Transport is a not-for-profit organisation that provides transport for the elderly, disabled and their carers.
Volunteers can nominate to drive on a regular basis (two days a week or once a fortnight, for example), or elect to be called on an ad hoc basis when the need arises.
Drivers are given the option of a variety of different journeys, including regional and Sydney trips (subject to client bookings), as well as regular local trips.
Currently, journeys are restricted to essential travel for either medical appointments or grocery shopping.
Community Transport provides fleet vehicles as well as fuel and carwash expense cards so volunteers are never out of pocket.
To be eligible, volunteers must have a current unrestricted driver's licence and receive a Criminal History and Fitness to Drive clearance.
If you're interested in volunteering as a driver email council@midwestern.nsw.gov.au.
