"The NSW Government is accelerating tender and planning approval processes and is committed to prioritising local companies and suppliers where possible," Dugald Saunders, Member for the Dubbo Electorate, said.
"It means tradies will be on the tools in record time, creating vital job opportunities for locals who need our support more than ever during this tough economic period."
He said that a total of $110,000 has been committed to deliver improvements in the electorate. With Narromine, Wellington and Dubbo have been hit by drought as well as COVID-19, and Mudgee, which also felt the impact of the summer bushfires.
NSW Attorney-General Mark Speakman said these investments will put courts in the best possible position to address the busy period ahead when normal sittings resume.
Currently courts have measures in place to conduct proceedings without the need for attending where possible. You don't need to attend unless you; are a party to a matter and no other arrangements are in place to conduct proceedings remotely; require face-to-face services of the registry.
"Carrying out renovations during the period of reduced court sittings in place to help manage the risks of the COVID-19 pandemic makes sense because fewer disruptions mean the work can be completed faster," Mr Speakman said.
The other projects in the electorate are; $60,000 to improve fire compliance at the Dubbo Courthouse; $30,000 to improve fire compliance at the Wellington Courthouse; and $5,000 for general maintenance at the Narromine Courthouse.
