Mr Saunders - who is currently in the process of announcing successful applicants from the 2019 round of the fund - said community groups, not-for-profits, and councils, can apply for funding to help deliver projects with social, environmental and recreational outcomes.
And that recently the Mudgee Historical Society was named the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the program, which will be used to build an accessible toilet at the Mudgee Museum, to complement the male and female toilets already on site. A must, given the number of visiting bus groups they normally have with people of varying ages and abilities. [Also see below].
"Local sports clubs, charities, schools and museums are just some of the groups that benefit from this program," he said.
"In the most recent round of the fund I have already announced support for a school oval in Mumbil, an accessible toilet at the Mudgee Museum, and walking paths and seating for Macquarie Homestay, with quite a few announcements still to come.
"If your organisation or club needs extra funding for infrastructure, such as playgrounds, accessible features, equipment or refurbishment, then I'd strongly encourage you to apply."
Applications opened on Monday (May 4) and close at 5pm, Friday, June 12, 2020. Applicants must read the program guidelines to ensure their club or organisation and proposed project are eligible.
