Mavis came into the world in 1916 in Mudgee to parents, Albert Harold Cox and Ruby May Oldfield.
It wasn't until 1935 that she relocated to Mudgee from Limestone and Stony Pinch where she spent her childhood, when she married George Havelock Tomkins at Mount Frome.
Mavis, predeceased by her younger sister Fay Rains and brother Bill Cox, is the mother of four, Kevin, Allan, Valerie and Max which has led her to be the grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 28 and great-great-grandmother 3.
Mavis' life has been filled with crafts, showing talent and passion for doll-making, sewing and other crafts.
It was in 2018 that Mavis began her new chapter at Pioneer House due to poor sight and hearing after living independently with assistance for many years.
