Earlier this year, Andrew Andrews set out to accomplish one of his life goals - to own and produce his own radio station.
In the beginning there were many questions left unanswered but eight months later, one of the most troubling tasks has finally been crossed off the list with Gulgong residents now having the option to tune in to Magic 87.6 FM.
"It's been an emotional ride. I'm not going to lie, there's been lots of highs and lots of lows, both cheers and tears," Andrews said.
"We've been trying to get that transmitter up in Gulgong since we started because I understand the importance of Gulgong and the people of Gulgong, it's a great town.
"It wouldn't have happened without the assistance of Bruce McGregor who put me in touch with Rowena Ellis of Prince Of Wales who was happy to let me put a transmitter up in the Commercial Hotel."
While COVID-19 may have slowed some things down in terms of planning, Andrews said it has allowed himself and his crew to develop a program that has turned Magic 87.6 into something else.
"COVID hasn't helped us but in one way it has because we've been able to consolidate a program and that's really helped us get it on the air," he said.
The feedback we're getting is that people are really enjoying us and leaving us turned on, words can't describe how I feel about that.

In the near future, listeners will be able to tune in on their mobile phones with an app currently in development.
"It's on its way. We're trying to cover everyone from normal terrestrial broadcasting all the way through to online," Andrews said.
