His Andrew Johns Cup team have struggled with discipline and form over the competition's regular rounds, and there were shades of those errors in a poor second half on Saturday, but a sterling first half showed what his side was capable.
"To finish with a win is good, in the first half they showed what a good side we can be, we fell away in certain areas in the second half," Woolnough said.
"It's a bit disappointing we didn't show that all through the competition."

The Rams ran out 24 - 16 winners over the Greater Northern Tigers and while Woolnough was happy to depart the season on a win, he was frustrated at what could have been.
"That's what we've been doing the past four games; ill discipline and mistakes, in the end it's cost us games, hopefully they learn from that," Woolnough said.
"If we'd strung one more win together, we'd have probably made the semis."
Woolnough's hoping his young charges carry the positives forward when they step up next year.
"There's some definite talent in the side, unfortunately we waited until our last game to show it."
