Whether they already play as part of the Mudgee Basketball Association or were new to the sport, the aim of the day was to get girls out on the court and develop a love for the sport.
Mudgee Basketball Association president Geoff Robinson said 24 of the 30 girls who attended the four hour session were new to the sport.
"I'm extremely pleased at the response. All of the girls thoroughly enjoyed their experience," he said.
Given the numbers from last week's program, Robinson said there is potential to run a girls only junior competition in term four of the schooling year.
"All that attended were eager to attend another girls only day in the near future, after which, if there are sufficient numbers, an under 16s competition will be organised in term four," he said.
"At this stage, with the inclusion of the two girls teams currently playing in the under 14s competition against the boys, a girls competition in term four would probably be viable, so planning is underway for this possibility."
The I Am A Girl 'come and try' program was held on July 2 at St Matthews Catholic School.
