Mudgee Junior Hockey welcomed Hockey NSW to Victoria Park on July 6 to offer a school holiday hockey clinic to students.
Hockey NSW regional participation coordinator for the Western area, Glenn Johnstone said not only is it about showing the participants the joy of hockey, but also for them to get active.
"It's about getting the kids out playing hockey and learning and developing in the sport. It gets them outside, away from the screens, and it also promotes the sport," he said.
"It's good to see the kids outside and smiling in the sun."
Of those in attendance, three had never played the game before and went from not even having held a hockey stick to being able to actively participate in a game.
"The kids came and had a great time and actually developed their skills," Mr Johnstone said.
"The kids who have never held a hockey stick have now developed into playing the game. I know they enjoyed it so hopefully they will join our sport."
Junior hockey is played each Friday afternoon at Victoria Park. For more information, visit Mudgee District Hockey Association's Facebook page.
