Thirteen-year-old Aiden Barnes from Gulgong, who has only been training and competing for the last three years, is certainly gaining a name for himself in the athletic arena.
He has competed in three major championships this year including the Hunter Championships, Dubbo Championships and Parkes Championships.
At the Parkes event, Aiden came first in most of the events he competed in including the 100 metres sprint, 200 metres sprint, 400 metres sprint, discus, and long jump.
He also obtained third in shot put and fourth in javelin with then being the first time competing in that particular event.
Gulgong High School held their athletics carnival on June 1 where Aiden competed and came first in all the events he competed in.
The events include 100 metres sprint, 200 metres sprint, 400 metres sprint, long jump, shot put, javelin and discus.
And, with the exceptional results, Aiden qualified for regionals.
Aiden has also just been selected by LANSW to attend the 2021 Coles Little Athletics Australian National Camp in October to be held Queensland.
Judging by the results he is achieving after such a short time, Aiden Barnes is certainly a young man to watch.
