The annual 22-week leadership development program pairs students with volunteer coaches and focuses on giving back to the community. This year 10 students graduated from the program - from a starting group of 12 - from Mudgee, Gulgong, and Kandos high schools, and St Matthew's Catholic School.
"I think that the program went well, I think the students got a lot out of it," program coordinator, Damian Walsh, said.
"The feedback we received from them said that they found it challenging - which they always do - but they all walked away feeling good. They really appreciate and value their coaches, that's a consistent theme, and we did have a great bunch of coaches.

"And we had some really inspiring students, especially when you look at the community service projects, some went above and beyond."
Among the Community Service Projects cited as highlights, were Sarah Gatley's Sunday Lunch Buskers in the Park, which provided a forum for musicians of all ages and abilities to busk in a local park. It attracted over 130 community and will become a regular event.
As well as Abilee Cummins' work with the Gulgong Scout Group and Red Hill Environmental Education Centre to revive the old Scout Hall as a meeting place for youth in the community, which can now be used to run activities like boxing and yoga and programs such as holiday programs. And Abigail Hamilton's revamp of a local dog park to provide training obstacles to make it fun for the dog and owner and for them to accomplish new skills.
A supporters celebration and think tank will be held next month to; toast 2019; recognise the long-term contribution of many locals; and gather feedback and generate ideas to continue to improve and lead the program in 2020 and into the future.
- The local Max Potential program is taking expressions of interest for community coaches for 2020. As well as supporting local students, coaches benefit from their own personal development and learn a framework that can be applied to their lives. Contact Damian Walsh on 0421 618 912.
